Sewage / Septic Information

If you are looking for information on getting a dye test, read below to see which sewage authority serves your area.  You must first contact them for your dye test.  Once a dye test is completed and passing, that information should be sent to Union Township.  We will then issue you an occupancy or change of address permit.  Look at our Forms and Applications to find the appropriate form.

Union Township is served by:

1.  Peters Creek Sanitary Authority for public sewer service around Finleyville

2.  West Elizabeth Sanitary Authority for public sewer service in the Elrama area

3.  South Park Sanitary Authority for public sewer service in the Library Road (Overlook Project)

3.  Some residents have a Home Septic System governed by Washington County Sewage Council

All persons selling real estate in the township are required to have a dye test performed for all sewered AND septic system properties by the appropriate agency (See Property Transfer)

Washington County Sewage Council
In 1977, eight townships in Washington County formed the Washington County Sewage Council (or WCSC). Now, almost every Township in Washington County is a member of the co-op. Union Township became a member in 1987. This council was established (according to Act 537) for the purpose of providing faster, more knowledgeable service for the property owners in each township. By combining their efforts, each township is able to lower the costs required to comply with the DEP's wastewater-related regulations. If you need a holding tank, on-lot sewage disposal system, or dye testing please call the Washington County Sewage Council at 724-223-0504 or link to the Washington County Sewage Council Web-Site. http://www.wcsewagecouncil.com
